Mr. Mercurio has been featured in numerous, TV, Radio and newspaper articles on the subject of Wind development. He has been a resident of Long Beach Island for more than 57 years. His first passion has been with wind since he started building kites at the age of seven years old.

Prior to his introduction to wind energy he did estimates for construction of energy conservation in the home for eight years. For the past four years he has been an active member of the American Wind Energy Association, Offshore Wind Working Group, New Jersey Wind Working Group, and Environment New Jersey and has attended numerous conferences and seminars every year on all phases of wind development. He has also worked with the National Renewable Energy Laboratory on research and development with SOUTHWEST wind power. He has been a leader in the advocacy of wind development in the State of New Jersey the last four years. He has been doing Wind feasibility site assessment on the Coast line of New Jersey with numerous communities’, commercial and residential projects for three years. He has completed courses for Certification as a Wind Site Assessor by the MREA at the Renew Earth Institute in Wisconsin.
Mr. Mercurio has a Wind consulting, Site Assessment and wind development business in the State and is a member of the New Jersey Wind Working Group funded by Wind Power America program under the DOE. He has also contributed free time, supplying information and money for State Committees such as the Governor’s Blue Ribbon Panel on Offshore Wind, The Renewable Clean Energy Committee, New Jersey Wind Model Ordinance and the Governors Energy Master Plan for New Jersey on wind.

Recently the New Jersey Wind Working Group, New Jersey Clean Energy Committee, Rutgers and Rowan University’s have written the New Jersey State Wind Model ordinance to aid towns and cities in proper Zoning of wind turbines and are working on various towns to adopt this Model Ordinance.
