Preparations are underway for our trip to Washington D.C. this March to co - host the WIREC ( Washington International Renewable Energy Conference). The GEC is also hosting a panel discussion at the event promoting our "Shades of Green" Initiative. (A draft copy is available for public comment by request)
138 Countries will be represented. The GEC is also an exhibitor at the convention center venue as well.
The GEC has another International Chapter request from Israel. Along with the U.K. , China, Chile and Dubai this chapter will further the GEC to the Global Community.
We have already been asked by our friends at the LAWEA ( Latin American Wind Energy Association ) to co-host the Latin American Wind Energy Conference in Guadalajara, Mexico in November of 2008.
The GEC Education Initiative is moving forward quite impressively. Our National Board has received requests from three high schools in November.A National campaign will be released in January of 2008 to commission College students across America to help us design the video game component for the 6,7 & 8th grade part of the curriculumn.
The National Energy Bill continues to be an anomaly. The GEC has sent out over 120,000 emails to get Congressional leaders to leave Renewables and Alternative Energy language in the Energy Bill. The GEC requested a meeting with House Speaker Pelosi where we would be joined by the AWEA and the SEIA but we received no response. Our National Board of Director Fred Hauber flew to Washington on his own plane to meet with Senator Harry Reid to discuss the GEC concerns. We will keep you posted.
The GEC is also patiently awaiting the New Jersey Energy Master Plan to be released. The GEC has had some major testimony about issues that should be included in this Energy Master Plan. Most importantly that NJ take 11,000 land fills that exist in the state and utilize them for "Hybrid" alternative energy fields to generate solar, wind & methane energy generation as well as look closely at 660 Superfund sites to do the same. We believe the plan will be released for public comment by Christmas but insiders tell us that it may be after the lame duck session is over. We will keep you posted.
Pennsylvania is also being watched very closely by the GEC. Governor Rendell is moving aggressively forward to create and unbelievable alternative energy economic engine in his keystone state.
Until next month, be well and have a happy and healthy holiday season.
